Description
Heat resistant stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance.
Applications
Heat resistant up to temperature up to 850oC, and also can be used in sulphur containing gas. Bearing and conveying components, heat resistant components for thermal boilers, etc.
Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature

Soft Annealing
Heat to 800-850oC, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 192.
Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 940-980oC followed by oil quenching or warm bath approx. 400oC. Hardness after quenching is 64-66 HRC.
Tempering
Tempering temperature: See the data bellow.
Tempering Temperature (oC) vs. Hardness (HRC)
100oC | 200oC | 300oC | 400oC | 500oC | 600oC |
64 | 62 | 60 | 57 | 53 | 42 |
Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1100-800oC.
Machinability
Soft and ductile, PK924 can be easily machined using most standard practices. Experienced machinists comment that PK924 machines similarly to 4130 alloy steel.
